Cándida's boyfriend left her in Spain to go to work to Havana. After twenty years without news, she decides to go look for him, although the only thing she knows of him is his name. In the port of Havana, she is confused with a jewel smuggler, which kicks off a series of comical events.
Directed by René Cardona, Una gallega en La Habana leans on a strong ensemble — Niní Marshall, Ramón Rivero (Diplo), Federico Piñero — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about comedy titles of 1955.
