Caliber 9

Just out of prison, ex-con Ugo Piazza meets his former employer, a psychopathic gangster Rocco who enjoys sick violence and torture. Both the gangsters and the police believe Ugo has hidden $300,000 that should have gone to an American drug syndicate boss.

Directed by Fernando Di Leo, Caliber 9 leans on a strong ensemble — Gastone Moschin, Barbara Bouchet, Mario Adorf — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about crime titles of 1972.
