
Cemal comes to Istanbul from a small Kurdish town after finishing high-school to pursue higher education. He feels isolated and out of place in the crowded city and soon meets a group Kurdish students who are against the repressive Turkish political system.
Directed by Kazım Öz, The Storm leans on a strong ensemble — Cahit Gök, Havin Funda Saç, Mehmet Selim Akgul — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 2008.
