Based on a true story, Jossie is a young Puerto Rican mother, who is a victim of her husband's aggression. She decides to divorce him and leave the circle of violence in which they live. However, her ex-husband's obsessive jealousy and his thirst for revenge will eventually destroy her.

Directed by Vicente Castro, Sucedió en Branderí leans on a strong ensemble — Luisa de los Ríos, Manolo Castro, Camille Carrión — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 2005.
