A mother and her son Esteban, who is split into multiple personalities, converge in the locus amoenus. Set in a heavenly and hellish place, where reality and hallucination are one in search of self and its future. This is a surreal story, full of metaphors, religious allusions, symbols, and poetry.
Directed by Ariel Orama López, EstebΔn leans on a strong ensemble — Jazmin Caratini, Jonathan Cardenales, Daniel Salinas González — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 2011.
