The Boys of Paul Street

In turn-of-the-century Budapest, teenage gangs the Paul Street Boys and the Red Shirts have been skirmishing over a vacant lot. When the Red Shirts decide to drive the Paul Street Boys out, they appoint small, sickly Nemescek to spy on their opponents.

Directed by Zoltán Fábri, The Boys of Paul Street leans on a strong ensemble — Anthony Kemp, William Burleigh, John Moulder-Brown — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about family titles of 1969.
