Yusuf works for a shipping company that salvages and sells sunken shipwrecks. His beautiful wife Meryem is a modest teacher who gives private lessons and is two months pregnant. The couple is unaware that their short trip to work on a sunken ship project off the coast of Bozcaada will turn into a nightmare because of a letter left by a woman they have never met. At the same time, Adem, a desperate soldier who has learned that his wife has run off with another man, is on the brink of madness, frantically calling his only friend on the island, the former diver Niko, for help. The sun sets, the sky splits, and when that hour comes, fate brings the partners together. One of the four whose lives intersect that night is destined to die. The hearts of the remaining three are filled with a hellish heat.

Directed by Abdullah Oğuz, Sıcak leans on a strong ensemble — Cem Özer, Ebru Akel, Hazım Körmükçü — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about action titles of 2008.
