About Mystery of the Eight Fighters
A monkey man is terrorizing a village. First, he's likely behind the disappearance of eight fighters who once controlled the village. Second, he's a sex maniac who ravages the female populace and demands one virgin as sacrifice each year. Jaka Lelana, a new arrival in the village and also a fighter, is asked to help put a stop to the madness.
Directed by Ostian Mogalana, Mystery of the Eight Fighters leans on a strong ensemble — Sutrisno Wijaya, Liliek A. Deliana, Sari Asmoro — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about horror titles of 1977.
