About The Golden Goddess Kalong
In order to save her boyfriend Yod's life, a young woman named Khun becomes the mistress of a sadistic lord (whose wife isn't much better). Once Yod finds out about it, he breaks up with her and she kills herself. Her ghost returns for revenge. This same exact story (set in 1905) was filmed again in 1981 as แก้วกาหลง ("Glass Kalong").
Directed by Rangsi Thasanapayak, The Golden Goddess Kalong leans on a strong ensemble — Chaiya Suriyun, Sopha Sataporn, Preeya Roongrueng — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about horror titles of 1966.
