About Rzeźnia nr 1
Christopher lives in a desolate village. His main occupation is flirting with the attractive expeditor Magda and drinking beer with his buddy Gąsior. His resentment is aroused by a certain Wojciechowski, who works in a butcher shop located in the central village. Similar feelings are evoked in him by the butcher shop owner's son, Artur, who flaunts his expensive car. To please Magda, Krzysztof steals the car.
Directed by Dominik Matwiejczyk, Rzeźnia nr 1 leans on a strong ensemble — Krzysztof Zych, Magdalena Kielar, Łukasz Garlicki — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 2006.
