The Iron Cross Army are sabotaging oil-tankers with the help of their monster, the Sea-Devil, a semi-mechanical anthropomorphic swordfish with an ability to shoot torpedoes from its mouth. Spiderman employs the help of the interpol agent Juzo Mamiya to help him stop the Iron Cross Army.
Directed by Koichi Takemoto, Japanese Spiderman: Episode 0 leans on a strong ensemble — Shinji Tôdô, Noboru Nakaya, Mitsuo Andō — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about action titles of 1978.
