About Tu Hi Meri Zindagi
The struggle of the indigenous population of Goa against the Portuguese colonists. The plot of the film is based on real events. The film includes original footage depicting this war. It all begins with the Portuguese executing the main revolutionary, Arthur Antonio Gomes, in the city's central square. They destroy everyone who had the imprudence to join the resistance. But these actions by the Portuguese only angered the colony's population.
Directed by Rono Mukherjee, Tu Hi Meri Zindagi leans on a strong ensemble — Deb Mukherjee, Nivedita, Salome — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about history titles of 1965.
