Supported by numerous prominent guest stars and of course the Maffay Band, the show impressed with 22 dancers, 5 stages, 194 costumes and a Peter Maffay in full swing. The live recording took place on 18.+.19.11.2016 in Dortmund's Westfalenhalle. Guests that evening included Tim Bendzko, Culcha Candela, Uwe Ochsenknecht, Jule Neigel, Alex Wesselsky, Heinz Hoenig and many more.
Directed by Andreas Richter, Tabaluga - Es lebe die Freundschaft! Live leans on a strong ensemble — Peter Maffay, Rufus Beck, Heinz Hoenig — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about music titles of 2017.
