Tale About Another's Paint

Once a year, under every tree and bush, a small man-bearer is born. All the summer he works tirelessly over the magical colors, which in the autumn will paint the leaves in yellow, orange and red. This animation film will tell about one such little man who appeared under the maple and about the hooligan Kuzma, who took away his paint from him. With their help, he won recognition and respect at the contest of autumn drawing, but did not have time to enjoy them, since his deception quickly opened.

Directed by Lev Atamanov, Tale About Another's Paint leans on a strong ensemble — Vladimir Ratomsky — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about animation titles of 1962.
