About The Secret of the Green Forest
The film is set in the early XX century. Three friends of the working of the Ural village - Yegor, Petka and Stickleback - are not on good terms with boys from across the street led by Senka Kozhin. But while they help a wounded revolutionary they meet Senka's father and change their attitude towards Senka who turns out to be a desperate and brave young man.
Directed by Oleg Nikolayevsky, The Secret of the Green Forest leans on a strong ensemble — Vladimir Makhov, Viktor Edvokimov, Boris Emlin — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 1961.
