About Scrap: A Love Story
The film depicts the strange live-in lifestyle of three people: Yasuko, a 14-year-old girl who insists that all things are equal and sex is no exception, Boku, a university student, and Ryosuke, a photographer for Binimoto. M, a girl who was popular for her photo books and videos at the time, plays the role of the girl who lives a carefree life, and is flanked by other celebrities.
Directed by Kōji Wakamatsu, Scrap: A Love Story leans on a strong ensemble — Mio Tanaka, Kazuo Andō, Seiji Kurasaki — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 1984.
