
Clelia, a self-made woman coming from humble means, travels back to Turin, her hometown, to scout locations for the successful Roman atelier she works for. At the hotel, she encounters some upper middle-class women and she finds herself drawn into their friendships.
Directed by Michelangelo Antonioni, Le Amiche leans on a strong ensemble — Eleonora Rossi Drago, Gabriele Ferzetti, Franco Fabrizi — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1955.
