About Life in Kajzar
A post-WW2 story about the village largely involved in wine-making business. The peasants who claimed possessions of lands, woods, and churches after communist party seized the power hold a party where a member of so-called reactionary forces (kulaks, clergy and Axis collaborators) tries to break in and stop it.
Directed by France Štiglic, Ante Blaj, Life in Kajzar leans on a strong ensemble — Bert Sotlar, Maks Furijan, Vika Podgorska — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1952.
