About The Valiants of Samothrace
It is the summer of 1974. After the Turkish invasion in Cyprus the greek dictatorship mobilises the army. A small squad in northern Greece is ordered among others to go to Cyprus, but when the dictatorship falls, the soldiers are left in the island of Samothrace awaiting orders. As days pass things are getting out of control
Directed by Stamatis Tsarouchas, The Valiants of Samothrace leans on a strong ensemble — Renos Haralambidis, Costas Santas, Dimitris Piatas — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about comedy titles of 2003.
