In a fictional future totalitarian society ruled as a one-party state. A teacher commits the crime to teach their students to think independently and is therefore being stalked. The fictional Monismania also appeared in Astrid Lindgren's saga about the witch Pomperipossa in the Monismanian 1976.
Directed by Kenne Fant, Monismanien 1995 leans on a strong ensemble — Erland Josephson, Harriet Andersson, Holger Löwenadler — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about science fiction titles of 1975.
