As soon as Ali is released from prison, he rushes to his friend Selim's side. In the evening, they go to Viran Kazım's tavern. The tavern owner's daughter Zehra is also there. Ali and Zehra fall in love at first sight. Ali begins making plans to start a new life with Zehra. However, Çamur Süleyman, the troublemaker of the neighborhood, has no intention of letting Zehra go.
Directed by Lütfi Akad, Meyhanecinin Kızı leans on a strong ensemble — Sezer Sezin, Turan Seyfioğlu, Üftade Kimi — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about romance titles of 1958.
