About Katil
Kemal works as an electrician in a factory. The owner of the factory, Süleyman Bey, is murdered. Due to a conspiracy hatched by Süleyman Bey's wife, the murder is pinned on Kemal. Kemal is arrested and sent to prison. Süleyman Bey's wife and lover try to get rid of Kemal to prevent the murder from being exposed. Kemal, however, will do everything in his power to prove his innocence.
Directed by Lütfi Akad, Katil leans on a strong ensemble — Ayhan Işık, Gülistan Güzey, Turan Seyfioğlu — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about crime titles of 1953.
