About The Adventurers Gamba and His Seven Friends
Gamba, an adventurous mouse, embarks on a journey with his childhood friend Bobo. They gather experienced mice sailors at a harbor. They encounter Chuuta, a mouse who has been injured and in need of help. He appeals for Gamba and Bobo to assist him in defending the island of Yumemishima and its inhabitants from the cruel and wicked weasel Noroi.
Directed by Osamu Dezaki, The Adventurers Gamba and His Seven Friends leans on a strong ensemble — Masako Nozawa, Ranko Mizuki, Junko Hori — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about adventure titles of 1984.
