










Adapted from the Fannie Hurst story of the same name, Mannequin is the story of Joan Herrick, kidnapped in infancy from her wealthy parents and raised by a slatternly slum woman. The film is still extant.
Directed by James Cruze, Mannequin leans on a strong ensemble — Warner Baxter, Dolores Costello, Alice Joyce — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about romance titles of 1926.
