Anyone who would have guessed from the title that they would see a fairy tale about spinners would not have guessed. In this fairy tale, three godmothers spin the golden thread of fate for a noble prince and a gamekeeper's daughter from the cradle. These cute godmothers, played by Jaroslava Adamová, Stella Zázvorková and Blažena Holišová, can grant three wishes, fly with the help of a magic hat and appear at the sound of a magic bell, but unfortunately they get something mixed up here and there and deliberately mess something up. In the end, however, fate prevails and the prince and Joanna find their happiness together.
Directed by Vlasta Janečková, Předeme, předeme zlatou nitku leans on a strong ensemble — Antonín Navrátil, Magdalena Bičíková, Jaroslava Adamová — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about family titles of 1982.
