Dead Cook

Fumika, a culinary school student, receives an invitation to a mysterious tasting party from Shizuka Izu, a charismatic culinary researcher, and happily tries to attend. However, she is attacked from behind by someone and loses consciousness. The place where she woke up was a closed ruin. There were four men and women who were also invited to Shizuka.

Directed by Katsumi Sasaki, Dead Cook leans on a strong ensemble — Mai Ohtani, Tomori Abe, Misaki Akutsu — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about horror titles of 2016.
