Rozsudky soudce Ooky

The fairy tale tells the story of a very wise Japanese judge, Ooka, who, when judging disputes between merchants, slaves, and even mayors, always listens to both sides first and then makes a fair decision. With his tricks and correctly asked questions, no perjurer or swindler escapes his notice.

Directed by Eugen Sokolovský ml., Rozsudky soudce Ooky leans on a strong ensemble — Miroslav Donutil, Pavel Kunert, Jaroslav Kuneš — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about family titles of 1989.
