Femme sans passé

Caroline feels neglected by her husband, the businessman Lorin. She plans to have fun with an inventor but finds herself, following a combination of circumstances, locked up in a psychiatric clinic. To get out of it, she is forced to take on the identity of the wife of a third man, whom she resembles.

Directed by Gilles Grangier, Femme sans passé leans on a strong ensemble — François Périer, Sophie Desmarets, Alfred Adam — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about comedy titles of 1948.
