Princesses

Sophie hasn’t seen her father for at least ten years. She’s gotten used to it and has built a life of her own. One morning, she learns that he is wanted for murder and that she has a half-sister. Her name is Virginie, and her motto is: “I don’t give a damn.” Almost against their will, they set out in search of their father. Between Paris, Brussels, and Amsterdam, they meet Simon. Not exactly Prince Charming.

Directed by Sylvie Verheyde, Princesses leans on a strong ensemble — Emma de Caunes, Jean-Hugues Anglade, Karole Rocher — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 2000.
