The subject of the film are the effects of alcoholism, whose innocent victims are children.
Directed by Jerzy Hoffman, Edward Skórzewski, The Children Accuse leans on a strong ensemble — Andrzej Łapicki, Henryk Boukołowski — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about documentary titles of 1956.
