Beneath the Flesh

An anthology of four nightmares: a man is tormented by love and a twisted creature in his apartment; two men confront each other in a damp, filthy basement; a withered man nurtures a growing creature; a man believes something is growing inside him; and finally, an old man is visited by a childhood friend that could be his darkest nightmare. The victim in each story is forced to confront a fear eating them from the inside out. Their choice? Deal with the fear or die with it.

Directed by Randall Kaplan, Beneath the Flesh leans on a strong ensemble — Steve Arons, Randall Kaplan, Bianca Jamotte LeRoux — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about horror titles of 2009.
