About Night of the Pencils
The Night of the Pencils was a series of kidnappings and forced disappearances, followed by the torture, rape, and murder of a number of young students during the last Argentine dictatorship (known as the National Reorganization Process). The kidnappings took place over the course of several days beginning on September 16, 1976.
Directed by Héctor Olivera, Night of the Pencils leans on a strong ensemble — Alejo Garcia Pintos, Vita Escardó, Pablo Novak — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1986.
