About Alev
The film deals with the problems encountered by a couple who want to marry each other and their families. After retiring, Muhlis Bey returns to his village with his family. The villagers do not want to accept this urban family into their community. Muhlis Bey's daughter, Alev, falls in love with Yağmur, the son of fisherman Ali Reis. However, neither Alev's nor Yağmur's families approve of this relationship. Despite everything, Alev and Yağmur will try to get married.
Directed by Nejat Saydam, Alev leans on a strong ensemble — Kadir İnanır, Necla Nazır, Hulusi Kentmen — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1976.
