About The Music Goes 'Round
Harry Wallace (Harry Richman) is the star of a musical comedy who, while on a leave of absence from Broadway, encounters a troupe of untalented showboat players and takes them to New York City. Without letting them in on the joke, he then features them in a new revue, hoping that unintentionally-funny act will bring the house down.
Directed by Victor Schertzinger, The Music Goes 'Round leans on a strong ensemble — Harry Richman, Rochelle Hudson, Walter Connolly — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 1936.
