In a small provincial town, just before the New Year, something went wrong. A young doctor falls in love with a Moscow singer who has come on tour and for her sake enters into a fight with the local bohemian youth... A grocery store saleswoman accidentally kills a customer and, together with her ex-boyfriend, tries to get rid of the body... A fish supervision worker at a New Year's feast is forced to play the role of his deceased twin brother ... But, no matter what, the heroes of these stories will do everything to find their new happiness under the chimes.
Directed by Semen Yakovlev, The Year of the Pig leans on a strong ensemble — Aleksandr Yatsenko, Darya Rudenok, Maxim Kostromykin — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
