A retired military counterintelligence officer is approached by a journalist. Hanka wants to get information about the colonel with whom our retiree met at the infantry school, where they studied since the fall of 1953. Stefan Kolodziej, however, has other plans. He wants to tell Hanka his biography, which is suspiciously intertwined with the journalist's life. The Colonel's confession reveals the horrifying cesspool of communism: finished people, destroyed families and careers.
Directed by Waldemar Krzystek, Norymberga leans on a strong ensemble — Janusz Gajos, Dominika Ostałowska, Halina Łabonarska — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 2006.
