Don't Want to be Alone

Pras has almost finished college, has rich parents and a beautiful, faithful fiancee but is suddenly diagnosed with lung cancer. He only has six months left to live. Pras’ parents ask Tika’s parents to allow them to marry. Tika, who is very much in love with Pras, agrees although her parents oppose. Pras takes Tika to live in the fishermen’s village. He wants to contribute to the village. Tika hides her pregnancy although Pras is aware and pretends not to know. Death finally comes but Tika is relieved as Pras has enjoyed his life.

Directed by Ida Farida, Don't Want to be Alone leans on a strong ensemble — Rano Karno, Meriam Bellina, Dicky Zulkarnaen — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1985.
