About Garantia and the Shooting Star
A small girl and her homemade mermaid doll - both of them named Garantia - is looking for her mommy's necklace. When she puts her doll into the aquarium the doll becomes alive and the aquarium becomes an enchanted ocean where she encounters the Snapper Gang, the ancient jelly fish Mr Elderling, the huge whale Nora and a small fish on a bicycle on her quest for the necklace.
Directed by Ella Johansson, Rebecka Llerena, Garantia and the Shooting Star leans on a strong ensemble — Leonie Drake Haggart, Björn Carlberg, Thomas Lundqvist — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about animation titles of 2006.
