About Sevdan Öldürdü Beni
Yusuf is a quiet man who lives in the village with his mother and wife. He has a feud with Seyfettin, who tried to take his wife away from him years ago. When his pregnant wife's labor pains intensify, Yusuf wants to take her to the city by minibus, but Seyfettin sabotages the minibus, and Yusuf's wife dies on the way.Upon learning of the situation, Yusuf shoots Seyfettin, seriously wounding him. Yusuf is sent to prison, where he meets Cabbar. After both are released, the friends begin working as carriage drivers on the islands.Yusuf, who becomes the private carriage driver for Mine, the daughter of a wealthy businessman on the island, falls for her. Mine falls in love with Yusuf after he protects her from rapists. Seyfettin does not leave Yusuf alone, who has forgotten his past and started a new life, and kills Yusuf's mother.
Directed by Şahin Gök, Sevdan Öldürdü Beni leans on a strong ensemble — Gökhan Güney, Bahar Öztan, Kazım Kartal — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1986.
