About Man in Demand on All Sides
Eva, a saleswoman in a record shop, is pestered by a rude customer. Councilor Švarc comes to her defense and immediately asks her to help him get rid of his temperamental mistress, Rita. According to Švarc’s plan, Eva is to play the role of his ex-mistress, who is determined to win him back. Meanwhile, Rita leaves Švarc on her own initiative; she has met the famous aviator Jiří Vydra, who arranged to meet her at a fishermen's tavern.
Directed by Miroslav Cikán, Man in Demand on All Sides leans on a strong ensemble — František Smolík, Ljuba Hermanová, Václav Trégl — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about comedy titles of 1934.
