Ali Konkouri

"Ali," who must become a doctor according to his mother's wishes, participates in the entrance exam year after year against his own will and fails each time. Eventually, he decides to find a way to escape this situation and marry his ideal girl. So, he pretends to be insane. Although this stops him from becoming a doctor, it leads to the girl's father opposing Ali's marriage. Feeling hopeless and exhausted, Ali eventually meets a woman who also catches his father's attention. The father uses various tricks to keep him away from home so that he can marry the woman himself.

Directed by Masud Asadollahi, Ali Konkouri leans on a strong ensemble — Masud Asadollahi, Reza Karam Rezai, Shahnaz Tehrani — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about comedy titles of 1973.
