In the woodcarvers' town far from the bustling metropolis, the traditional Chinese craftsmanship is still passed down from generation to generation. Young designer Lu Hao and Taiwanese businessman Fang Hanbing returned to their hometown town for a rennovation program. They regained their love for their grandchildren and found the ingenuity of the young people in the present.
Directed by Wang Ying, Artisan Spirit leans on a strong ensemble — Ma Shaohua, Zhang Di, Eleven Yao — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 2019.
