1922 year. Khakassia. Fields. Former red partisan Fedor Polyntsev is taking his family to Minusinsk. On the way, a wounded Khakassia youth-herder comes across. Trying to give him first aid, Fedor is captured by the relatives of the herder, who considered him guilty of injuring the young man.
Directed by Vadim Lysenko, Last Year of Berkut leans on a strong ensemble — Oleg Korchikov, Viktor Kokov, Vladimir Tatosov — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about adventure titles of 1977.
