The owner of a big country house in a small village called Barrancas, has a bad reputation of mistreating his employees, so when the caretaker of the house disappears, everyone think he left. Mario, the owner's nephew, is sent unexpectedly to pay for the services and deliver the house to a new steward. Mario takes advantage of the situation and, without permission, he invites the girl he likes and some college friends. What Mario doesn't know is that this can be a very dangerous decision.
Directed by Juan De La Peña, Barrancas leans on a strong ensemble — Esteban de la Isla, Ana Lucia Camacho, Julia Davalos — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about thriller titles of 2016.
