
In the 1940s, Anna, Doris, and Ditas are patients afflicted with Hansen’s Disease (or widely known as leprosy) who live in Culion at a time when the disease is practically a life sentence. No cure has yet been found, and no one is allowed to leave.
Directed by Alvin B. Yapan, Culion leans on a strong ensemble — Iza Calzado, Meryll Soriano, Jasmine Curtis-Smith — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about romance titles of 2019.
