About Hür Köle
Mehmet, a married man and father of one child, works as an imam. The young man, who has different ideals, quits his job to pursue his dream of becoming a director. Although Mehmet wants to make a new film, his financial difficulties prevent him from doing so. During this process, Mehmet separates from his wife and, unable to care for his daughter Ayşe, is forced to leave her in a nursery, plunging him into a deep crisis.
Directed by Mehmet Tanrisever, Hür Köle leans on a strong ensemble — Soydan Soydaş, Seçil Buket Akıncı, Tarik Tanrisever — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 2019.
