Onnenpotku

Set during the recession of the early 1930s, Reino, an engineer who has been laid off from a shipyard, is not considered suitable as a son-in-law for a factory owner. Reino, who has lost his beloved Maire, finds happiness when he befriends Hillin-Jussi, an unemployed rogue.

Directed by Glory Leppänen, Onnenpotku leans on a strong ensemble — Yrjö Tuominen, Ester Toivonen, Toivo Palomurto — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about comedy titles of 1936.
