About Se alkoi sateessa
Vuokko takes shelter from a thunderstorm in a fishing hut and meets a mysterious man whom she suspects is the smuggler Rompan Eetu. Instead of reporting him, Vuokko decides to follow him to Helsinki to the smugglers' hideout on the condition that he agrees to turn himself and his comrades in to the police.
Directed by Eddie Stenberg, Thure Bahne, Se alkoi sateessa leans on a strong ensemble — Eila Peitsalo, Tauno Palo, Kaarlo Halttunen — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about comedy titles of 1953.
