Ujang, a young man from Cibatu, West Java, travels to Jakarta in the hope of becoming wealthy. He leaves Neng, his lover, behind. Ujang meets Dadang, whom people say has been successful. It turns out that the news is false as Dadang is poor. Then they manage to deceive Dewo, the conglomerate boss and Ujang and Dadang are entrusted to lead Dewo’s company. In reality, Dewo has deceived Dadang and Ujang into carrying out his money laundering activity. Luckily, Dewi, Dewo’s wife, comes to rescue the guys.
Directed by Chandra Endroputro, Kejar Jakarta leans on a strong ensemble — Yosi Project Pop, Udjo Project Pop, Oon Project Pop — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 2005.
