About Egy szív megáll
Sándor Futó is pathologically jealous of his wife. He suspects everyone, even his wife's impresario. He fears that he will end up like his father, who killed his mother's supposed lover and then committed suicide himself. Alexander wants to prevent this, so he attempts suicide, but without success. After recovering, his jealousy continues to gnaw at his soul.
Directed by László Kalmár, Egy szív megáll leans on a strong ensemble — Katalin Karády, István Nagy, Tivadar Uray — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about romance titles of 1942.
